When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data displayed in the comment form as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user string to assist with spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service’s privacy policy can be found here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment has been approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible in connection with your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images that contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from the images on the website.

How long do we keep your data?

When you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This allows us to automatically recognise and approve follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time (but they cannot change their username). The administrators of the website can also view and edit this information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this website or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we delete any personal data we hold about you. This does not include data that we are required to keep for administrative, legal or security reasons.

Where is your data sent?

Visitors’ comments may be checked by an automated spam detection service.
