Our association history
Tanz der Kulturen Berlin e.V. was founded in 2007 by educators and artists as a non-profit organisation with the aim of promoting, educating and participating in dance and culture for families with and without a history of migration.
The guidelines of the organisation are based on humanistic values and are intended to contribute to a more just and social society with equal opportunities. From the very beginning, Tanz der Kulturen Berlin e.V. has been particularly committed to the education and social participation of children, young people and families.
Our values
We work with professionalism and responsibility and want to make a meaningful contribution to peaceful coexistence in a pluralistic society. To this end, we work with commitment, knowledge, sensitivity and a global perspective. Our focus is on resources rather than deficits, so that we treat other people as equals and see diversity as an opportunity.
Our mission statement / vision
As Tanz der Kulturen Berlin e.V., we are committed first and foremost to human dignity and the well-being of children, young people, families and individuals.
Our vision is based on a democratic and pluralistic society in which all people, in their individuality and diversity, have the right and the opportunity to participate constructively in all areas of life – regardless of age, gender, religion and origin.
Our work is intended to contribute to creating equal conditions for the free development of an independent and community-capable personality for the people we support. Human dignity is inviolable. Our attitude and our actions are determined by the values of solidarity, freedom, equality, tolerance and justice.
Ideas, suggestions and criticism of our work are seen as an opportunity to further develop our professionally qualified work.
Our goals
Everyone has the right to shape their own individual life path and realise their own development opportunities. Our aim is to help them uncover and promote resources and perspectives. We see it as our responsibility to recognise each child and young person as an individual and to support them according to their abilities, interests and resources so that they can find their way in later life and in society as independent people capable of making their own decisions.
